We can not believe that Christmas is just around the corner. My aunt and our resident card maker however is ahead of the game and she has sent another fabulous Christmas card to share with all of you crafters out there who love Designaholic Studio supplies just as much as she does. For the first card, she used the Christmas Truck napkin and here are the directions she has provided.
*Using one whole quarter of the Christmas Truck napkin and separate the layers. If you’ve worked with napkins before, you know that each napkin has multiple layers (some 2, some 3 and some even 4). As long as your picture layer is almost translucent, then you’ve gotten all the other layers off. Sometimes this process is a little bit challenging, and patience is required but the end result is wonderful.
*Decoupage the truck napkin (the entire image – ¼ of the napkin) onto a piece of watercolour paper (first image). (90lb.) that is larger that the napkin. Let Dry. Check out our “Water Technique” YouTube video tutorial for a great way to decoupage a large piece of napkin.
*Repeat this process for a second time on a second piece of watercolour paper (second image). Let dry.
*Trim the excess watercolour paper from around the napkin on this first image.
*Cut a piece of watercolour paper or heavy mixed media paper 12” long and 6” wide. (You could also use red or green heavy cardstock for this step,) This will be the paper you use to create the actual 6” x 6” card. Use a boning tool, a credit card or a sturdy ruler to create a fold right down the middle and then fold the card along this line to create your 6” x 6” card.
*Use double sided tape to adhere the first napkin piece to the fort of the card.
*Carefully cut and trim around the truck and the trees from your second image. (See photo)
*Use pop-dots (3-dimensional sticky round or square adhesive dots) to stick the cut-out truck (second image) over top of the first image – the one on the card already. Your truck and trees are now popping off your card – LOVE it!!!
*Add some green glitter to all of the trees (use any colour green that you like), iridescent glitter to the snow on the truck and around the truck and iridescent or gold glitter to the truck lights.
*If you use glitter glue, apply it directly to the card. If you use actual glitter, paint on some adhesive first (Mod Podge, Aleene’s glue etc.)
*Glue some gemstones to the trees (my aunt generally adds a little glue even though the stones are sticky - just to be sure.)
*If you didn’t use coloured cardstock you may want to go over the card edges with some red ink or some red watercolours.
If I had done this card, I would be so proud of it and I can think of a number of truck lovers that I could send it to. Unfortunately for me my aunt would like to have her card back so I guess I’ll just have to make my own LOL!
