This project is so easy and quick you can have it done in no time.  It would make a great hostess gift with a plant in it (I recommend Pothos - very hard to kill) or add it to your own home for some of that comfy cozy, rustic yet modern farmhouse décor. Check out the video tutorial on our YouTube channel HERE

So lets get started.

*Grab you jar.  Make sure it's nice and clean.

*Use a foam brush and paint on a thick layer of DecoArt Dimensional Effect.  Use the foam to create a stone like texture on the surface.  Let dry 4-12 hours (depends on how thick you put it on)

*Once dry, paint the entire jar in a dark grey paint, I used Anthracite by Allegro. (Stamperia makes this paint, it is so smooth and cream and gives amazing coverage!) Let dry.

*Paint the whole jar with 2 coats of Chalky Finish paint.  Don't let it cure for too long.  I waited about 15 minutes after my second coat before the next step.  It should be dry to the touch but now really really dry.

*Once dried for around 15 minutes, take a wet paper towel (blue shop towels are the best) and rub some of the ivory paint off, just enough so that the grey paint starts to show through.  Go over the entire surface until you have reached your desired finish.

*Apply 2 coats of Matte varnish. Let dry.

* Wrap some twine 2 or 3 times around the neck of the jar and tie a bow to finish, add some florals or greenery....and your done.
