I just love making tags!  For every occasion!  I love being able to share a few with you here and on YouTube!  Follow along with me while I create this

whimsical tag using an unlikely material. I have lots more ideas for using different materials for tag backgrounds but for today I am going to using an old calendar (I think it’s from 2018 😊).  This tag is my absolute favourite because I love fairies and gnomes and all things magical.  The picture on this tag comes from one of the old Woodland Faeries calendars by Linda Ravenscroft (even her name sounds magical).

So, there you go, I chose a fairy calendar to take my background from, but any beautiful calendar will do just as well.

I cut the picture to fit my Designaholic Studio Mixed Media Tag.  I glued the image onto the tag using Aleene’s Quick Dry Tacky glue.  I like to paint the glue right on to the surface with a paint brush.  This gets the glue everywhere, so all the edges are secure, and it also avoids globs of glue leaking out from the sides.  I trimmed off any excess, so the edges were even with the mixed media tag.

I did the same with the back of the tag using a part of the calendar that had no image.  The glittery part at the top of the tag was created using double sided tape, fine glitter, and our lace border embellishments.  The process is a little complicated to try and explain in writing, but I’ve made a YouTube video demonstrating how its done.  You can check it out here: https://youtu.be/Nx_3MzJuyBM .

You can use this fun embellishment technique on so many projects, it’s easy to do and the result is amazing (as you can see).  To add some magic, I brushed Stickles Glitter Glue lightly over the picture part only and added a few rhinestones.  Presto, I am done.  I haven’t decided exactly what I’m going to do with it yet, but you may see it pop up as a part of the cover on my journal (that I will get to sooner or later).

I hope you enjoyed this quick project.  Wishing you a fun crafting day and here’s my mantra once again – ‘try it, you’ll love it!’  If you want to see me making this tag, check out our YouTube video here:
